| Dominica has low crime rates, but foreign nationals and tourists have been victims of petty crime. One of the most common crimes is passport theft. Do not leave any valuables unattended, particularly on the beach and when visiting crowded areas. Use hotel safes for valuable items.
Limit public transportation use to resort buses and taxis if possible. Traffic flows on the left side of the street in Dominica, and many roads are winding and narrow. There is little threat from civil unrest, kidnapping or terrorist activity. Strikes by civil servants occur infrequently.
